Wolf (1994) - 3/5

This is a good modern take on the werewolf formula, exchanging manors on the moor for business suits in the city. The special effects are mostly confined to the end and the sexuality is strong by ‘90s standards by tame for today. It’s more of a character piece about a man becoming assertive in a business environment than it is about classic monster tropes, which keeps it unique and interesting. And with a very reasonable two hour runtime it doesn’t overstay its welcome.

Closest comparison: It’s like Wolfman (2010) by way of Wall Street (1987).

Setting: Drama
Plot: Horror
Tone: Corporate Thriller

Sinbad: Legend of the Seven Seas - 2/5

This movie has a neat theme, but everyone involved is giving mediocre effort. Brad Pitt and Catherine Zeta-Jones are phoning it in, and poorly cast for their animation and character concepts. The blend of traditional animation and CGI works a few times, but mostly looks jarringly out of place. It’s not funny or meaningful enough to stick around.

Closest comparison: It’s like Atlantis by way of Prince of Egypt.

Setting: Adventure
Plot: Action
Tone: Family

Murder on the Orient Express (2017) - 3/5

It's good. It's fine. There's nothing wrong with it, but it's honestly pretty bland. For all the acting and directing talent available it is not very impressive, except for a few pretty great 'oners' if you're looking for them. If you're familiar with the story this movie holds no surprises for you. If not, it's a classic and this is a solid adaptation.
